I would like to start by introducing you to
you the beautiful Music of Paraguay that
I perform with my Paraguayan Harp. I deeply
love this music as well as the Paraguayan
Culture it represents. The legends and customs
of the Guarani
people are still alive today inspiring poetic
and musical creations of the People of Paraguay.
The two fundamental forms of music are the
"Guarania",
which is not danced, but very melodic and
the "Polka"
which is very lively and inspires dancing.
- "Recuerdos
de Ypacaraí" (Remembrances of
Ypacaraí) for
example, is a guarania
composed by Demetrio Ortíz.
It relates to a beautiful lake located
next to Asunción, the capital of Paraguay.
- "El
Tren Lechero" (The Milk Train)
is a polka
composed by F.
Pérez Cardozo.
If you close your eyes while you listen
to this melody you have the impression
of travelling on a train.
- "La
Virgencita de Caacupé" (The
Little Virgin of
Caacupé)
is a music written
in honor of the most prestigious and venerated
Virgin of Paraguay.
She comes from a town called Caacupé
that is located 20 miles from the capital
of the country.
